I am so very sorry to learn of Ellen's diagnosis and passing. Her family initially lived in an area south (?) of Hathorne school, but in 1st or second grade moved up the street from us on Fairfield. She was somewhat quiet and always very proper. She had the most beautiful brown eyes and naturally curly auburn hair. Her life after graduation reveals her committment to the service to others which gives me so much respect for her....right up there with other Hawthorne classmates Barbara Bryan, Marguerite Iskendarian and Ginny Schaffer, to name but a few.

Ellen Pearce was a close friend and her smile will always be a part of my memory of her.  We grew us in the Presbyterian church across from the high school.  Our parents helped start this church and we had a great youth group  I treasure her out of the box thinking and loyalty to friends.  She shared many memories with Cathy Demuth Schille and me at out reunion.  Wetalked her into coming and so enjoyed this special reunion.

It's hard to remember a time in my childhood when Ellen was not there as a friend and classmate.  She seemed to have a rich internal life and was tuned into life's essential humor, but never to my knowledge used that as an excuse to mis-behave (darn!)

El, rest in peace, and thanks for a giving life.
