So sad to learn of this delightful friend and colleague's death. I always had the most pleasant interactions with her and never heard anything but praise for her and that her talents. The world is a lesser place with her passing.

Such a dreadful and unnecessary loss!! She was such a gifted, love-filled soul...sending LOVE and PRAYERS to her family and friends.  I am visualizing her now an Angel looking down from a joyful place of pure positive energy on her life here well-lived.  She will be sorely missed.💞😇

I too was stunned to learn of Marguerite’s passing.  We met in first grade at Hawthorne  and she became one of my best friends; our mothers were best friends too. We bonded as only children and later we both became librarians.  We spent countless hours doing all the fun things Elmhurst kids do— swimming at East End Park, tennis games, visits to the library and Wilder Park, family trips, concerts, and endless games of ping pong in her rec room.  It must have pained her, an accomplished musician, to be the accompanist for my untalented clarinet solos in the state music contests.  Her parents were kind, warm, and welcoming, just like Marguerite.  I have wonderful memories of many, many fabulous Armenian meals prepared by Marguerite’s mother, and a special memory of a dinner at her house with all of our friends who then went to hear JFK speak at York. Marguerite was a bridesmaid at my wedding. We kept in touch through the years, and in recent years rekindled our friendship with my visits to NYC, and corresponding about favorite books.  We have lost a very special person.  Rest in peace my friend.

What a terrible shock. Marguerite was a wonderful friend at York and over the years. She was kind, lovely and a superb musician on both piano & cello. Memories of time spent talking about music, life and just hanging out are dearly held. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Thanks to Trish and others who published the 50th Reunion directory, I was able to re-connect with Marguerite in 2017 to share in mourning the passing of our mutual friend Barbara Bryan (Freeman).  In our ongoing email exchange we shared a sense of discovery on a wide range of subjects.  Marguerite was fully engaged in the amazing universe around her up to the end; her last email to me was on 5/24, sharing links to the Armenian composer Hovhaness in connection with Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

Her interest in cataloging and cross-referencing had her always on the lookout for connections in life, expressed in her salient, New York-tinted observations. Concerning the Library of Congress’  classification of undocumented immigrants:  “Aside from the PC issue, does anyone these days think of “aliens” as meaning anything but extraterrestrials?”  Re. extraterrestrials: “These visitors have been observing us for years, they know.”  On a book she was reading: “Too bad Lincoln wasn’t interested in music instead of drama, he might have lived longer.”

Marguerite seemed so involved, so at home in her skin, it never occurred to me that she could fly away.

Rest in Peace, dear friend.
