I had a conversation with Jerry before our September 60th reunion.  He regretted that he wouldn't be able to make the reunion, but was thinking of all the York classmates he'd wish to see.  Jerry, you will always be remembered with great fondness.

Jerry was a good friend at York and at Western. He was a very good football player, very tough, hard hitting. I tried to avoid linning up across the line from him - he could hurt you.

He had a big heart - he would always stop to help strangers with car problems. If you needed help, he was always there.

Spent  alot of time at his house. His mom and dad were wonderful people. His mom was very worried when he was in Vietnam.

Jerry was a really good guy.

Jerry was a friend to everyone who met him.  A great football and wrestler he gave it all he had and was a silent leader who led by example.  It was my pleasure to know him and wish his family peace and blessings.  You are missed.

I played on the football team for 4 seasons with Jerry. As seniors we were one of 8 players to play offense/defense. He was a tackle and I was an end and we both made the All Conference team. He was a tough player and quick. We always tried to beat each other during our 40 yard sprints after practice. RIP Jerry.

Always enjoyed Jerry, especially playing football for four years with him--always a fighter. He had a great sense of humor and was there for people. He will be missed.

From Shelley Thomson Reichel:  "Jerry had a heart of gold and was a very special friend of mine.  The last time I saw him was at our 50th class reunion.  I was so glad to see him.  He talked about his family...he was so proud of them.  Jerry will be missed."
