I had received a letter from Larry a week before receiving the call from his mother. His Battlion was being sent to Viet Nam in about 3 months. I had just received my orders for Viet Nam and had just sent him a letter saying "See you there".

Larry died in a truck accident while serving in the Army in Germany - April 1966.

I remember when Larry got his orders to Germany, he was ecstatic that he was going there, since virtually
everyone was going to Viet Nam. Sorry it turned out that way for him, certainly was an odd outcome.
